Calling for a policy framework to support SMEs

(Brussels, 20 November 2017) At an event hosted this afternoon at the European Parliament to mark the beginning of the European SME Week, FoodDrinkEurope launched a White Paper with specific policy recommendations to mark the second phase of the “Small Scale, Big Impact” initiative. The project, launched last year, highlights the key role Small & Medium-Sized Enterprises play in Europe’s food and drink sector, where they make up 99% of businesses.

Key Food Chain Partners Call for Comprehensive EU-UK trade deal

(Brussels, 16 November 2017) Trade in agri-commodities and food and drink products represents 11% of bilateral trade flows between the EU27 and the UK. As a consequence of Brexit, unprecedented challenges and a high level of uncertainty prevails. With this in mind, the three key food chain partners call for specific measures to mitigate as much as possible any negative impact on the sector as a result of Brexit.

Food & Drink Processors also exposed to Unfair Trading Practices

(Brussels, 16 November 2017) Food and drink processors of all sizes are exposed to UTPs, reveals FoodDrinkEurope, affecting their capacity to invest and innovate in the long-term. The main three are unilateral and retroactive change to contracts; imposed contributions to promotional or marketing costs; passing of confidential information onto other parties.
